What are wood pellets?
Wood pellets are a renewable, clean-burning and cost stable home heating and grilling fuel currently used throughout North America. Pellet fuel is made of renewable materials – generally recycled wood residues captured from other wood product manufacturing processes. There are approximately 1,000,000 homes in the U.S. using wood pellets for heat in freestanding stoves, fireplace inserts, furnaces, grills, and boilers. Pellet fuels are also used to heat larger facilities including schools, hospitals, and businesses. Wood pellets are produced in manufacturing sites across Canada and the United States and are available for purchase at the hearth and home retailers, farm and ranch stores, feed and garden supply outlets, and discount merchandisers. Wood pellets are also used as fuel for electric power production and as an absorbent for industrial purposes and animal care.
