Registration is now open for the 2017 conference, July 23-25 in Stowe, Vermont! The PFI Annual Conference highlights the various applications of densified biomass, as well as trends and best practices within the densified biomass industry. Energy Department Announces $10 Million for Bioenergy Technologies Funding

The Energy Department last week announced up to $10 million in funding to advance the production of advanced biofuels, substitutes for petroleum-based feedstocks, and bioproducts made from renewable, non-food-based biomass, such as algae, agricultural residues, and woody biomass. This work supports the Energy Department’s efforts to make drop-in biofuels more accessible and affordable, as well as to meet the cost target equivalent of $3 per gallon of gasoline by 2022.

Craig Rawlings and I recently spent two cool, overcast days in Eugene, Oregon observing a test to develop new screening technologies for use in-woods with grinders and chippers. The test, conducted by the Waste to Wisdom project — Task 2 Team — experimented with two screening systems (star and deck) using chipped materials from pulpwood and hog fuel ground from logging slash.
