Heading to New Orleans Next Week for the HBExpo? Don't Forget to Register for Breakfast & Biomass!

The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Expo is taking place next week in New Orleans, LA. PFI welcomes all attending Expo to join us the morning of Friday, March 18, for our annual event, Breakfast & Biomass: A Briefing on the Pellet Market. In addition to a full breakfast and networking opportunities, the program will feature speakers who will address all aspects of the pellet industry.

PFI Chairman Stephen Faehner will preside over the event, providing updates on industry and member activities. Stan Elliot, Co-Chair of the PFI Conference Committee will provide a preview of the 2016 PFI Annual Conference in Asheville, NC. HPBA staff will present their annual report on pellet stove shipments. Finally, Pat Rita of Orion Advocates and John Crouch of the Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association will give attendees an overview of the policy and regulatory issues facing the industry this year. 

Breakfast & Biomass will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 7:30am in the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The Legislature's State and Local Government Committee voted Wednesday to advance a bill introduced by Rep. Robert Saucier to encourage Maine taxpayer-funded institutions to purchase locally sourced wood pellets.

New projects are being built at the State Port

Many new projects are underway at the State Port in Wilmington. The Port is developing a pellet facility, which will help with the process of exporting wood products to Europe, and other areas.

It makes sense to use Maine's forest biomass to produce energy

Maine's loggers, landowners, foresters and mills not only want, but need to use every part of a tree. Our state is a national leader in renewable energy, and biomass accounts for 60 percent of Maine's renewable energy portfolio and 27 percent of its electricity generation, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
