By The Numbers: A Data Rich Look at Current Domestic and Global Wood Pellet Production
This conversation will be rooted in a close examination of the available data for both domestic and global wood pellet production and sales. A heavy focus will be placed on domestic sales through the 2019–20 heating season and what we’ve learned about fiber availability and production through the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic. The panel will conclude with a deep dive into global wood pellet production and the market trajectories for wood pellet used for both space heating and power generation.

Assessing The Regulatory Victories and Policy Progress of the Past Year
It could be argued that the last year has been the most active in federal regulation and policy for the Pellet Fuels Institute in five years. A regulatory victory emerged after a five-year effort that saw a change not only in the leadership at the PFI but also a change in administrations at the White House and the EPA. Finally, while our efforts on the policy front didn’t yield any clear victories this discussion will report on our most active year in Washington in years and the opportunities we continue to work towards.

Producer Roundtable: Wood Pellet Manufacturing in a Year of Uncertainty
Our annual conversation with producer members is typically the most talked about panel of our annual conference and for good reason. Populated with a geographically and operationally diverse representation of producers, this discussion will get right to the most important questions facing our sector with the people producing product and working to grow their market. Discussion topics will include the 2019-20 heating season, how producers have and are navigating production amidst the COVID-19 crisis, fiber availability and the continued acceleration of the BBQ market.

The State of Play for Our Supply Chain Partners
Another popular annual discussion for the PFI is a review of the previous year for our partners up and down the wood products and home heating supply chain. Certainly how each of these partners navigated the COVID-19 pandemic will figure largely into the discussion, but attendees can also count on a close accounting of regulatory and policy victories, economic trends impacting our panelists’ specific sectors and their outlook for the coming heating season.
